Documentary: Artemis

ARTEMIS is a 68 minute film by Sektion Red focusing on 9 current female MC’s in UK Hip Hop (Bobbie Johnson, Genie Marie, Holly Flo Lightly, Jaz Kahina, MINX, Oracy, Seraphim, Shay D and TrueMendous). Exploring various perceptions as to why there are not more prominent female voices in the genre, both on stage and behind the scenes, the documentary provides some ideas as to how to rectify this in the final chapters of the film. The film was directed by Oliver Whitehouse, produced by Laura Green with behind the scenes footage filmed by Fleur Wild.

Album: Moteleola – Oasis Black

Moteleola, 21 year old producer from South London, has been behind the boards on many tracks heard here on NHDub. Oasis Black is his first full length project, complete with guest spots from Has-Lo, Dubz D, Chaundon,Olivia Louise, Lafayette Stokely, Allen Poe, Signif, Melodious Mike, J. Manifesto & many more.

South London producer Moteleola calls on frequent collaborator, Brooklyn’s Lafayette Stokely, Mello Music Group’s Has-Lo, Tre DeJean from Texas and Chakkra Tara who hails from Philly showcase brilliant song writing that illustrates the trials and triumphs of life. Pushed by Moteleola’s signature thick boom-bap drums, stirring cymbals and soulful sample chops wavering in the background from ear to ear, the artists line up to remind listeners to “give a little thanks when you get a moment to be in the moment”. “Thank You Life” will be included on the producer’s upcoming Oasis Black project, keep an eye out for the fourth quarter release as well as beats contributed to our WorldWide mixtape.

Currently residing in Atlanta, Granddad Woolly‘s sound contains elements of Old School, Golden Era, Boom Bap and Sci-Fi Hip Hop. The fact that his career is based off a long running novel like storyline as well as his unique songwriting, lyricism and delivery makes him someone to keep an eye on.  An artist who remains true to his style and craft, Grandad Woolly never boxes himself and comes off predictable.  His latest project The Vanilla Tape serves as a self reflection through music dealing with all of the obstacles and achievements that have been thrown his way up to now.  The first free project Woolly has offered in more than 5 years, production on The Vanilla Tape was created solely by UK producer Vanilla providing the most musically and soul inspired Granddad Woolly project to date.

Album: Allen Poe + Moteleola – Symmetry and Shade EP

Album: Pragmatic Theory Presents | Forces Within The Framework

In conjunction with Rhythm 22,  a fellow underground culture and music blog, Pragmatic Theory drops off an album featuring hip hop acts in lieu of the usual beat tape release.  MCs such as UK’s Melanin 9 aka M9, Essa, The Doppelgangaz, Pseudo Slang, TASK1ne, Stik Figa & more bless beats cooked up by Keor Meteor, Funky Notes, Es​-​K and Mike EL Angelo among many others.

“Soul Mates Pt. 1” is the beginning of a three part series from UK MC K.I.N.E.T.I.K. and California based producer, Kuroisoul.  The narrative of this series follows the lives of two people who are truly meant for each other and highlights the ups and downs of their relationship.  This song also carries a dual message. On one hand, the lyrics analyse the complexities of love and friendship. On the other hand; it serves as a fitting tribute to a Hip Hop legend, whose identity will remain anonymous… for now.

Chox-Mak is by far one of the hardest working up and comers in the underground hip hop scene.  Also one of the most versatile, Chox-Mak is making music for the soul. He is able to switch up and take on all different types of hip hop as you will hear when you listen to his release “Patience” produced by Bunty Beats.  “Patience” is the first single off of their collaboration project Balance which will be dropping exclusively on Audiomack.
